U.S. imposes arms embargo to force Juba to maintain peace

The United States has announced an arms embargo against South Sudan. It's part of efforts to increase the pressure on President Salva Kiir to end the civil war. The move signals that President Trump's administration has lost patience with the country's warring parties -- after several ceasefires have been violated. South Sudan has however insisted that peace is slowly returning to the war torn country. In an interview with CGTN, South Sudan's cabinet affairs minister said the civil war that has raged on for five years now is subsiding and that president Salva Kiir is keen on stabilising the country.
