Ortom want Christians to play active in politics

Nigeria’s problem transcends periodic change of government, says cleric
Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has urged Christians to participate more actively in politics to determine what happens around them.
Ortom, who gave the charge yesterday at the maiden special thanksgiving service organised by the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Makurdi, maintained that without registering and obtaining their Permanent Voters Card (PVC), there would be no need to talk about bad or good governance.
He restated the state government’s stance on open grazing, which he said, could not coexist with farming in the state.
According to him, this was because they are conflict with each other and that would negatively affect the state economy, which is largely dependent on agriculture.

 

While advising Benue people against reprisal attacks against those who have invaded the state, he urged them to provide information on any impending attacks to security agents and also pray God to fight the remaining part of the battle.

He acknowledged the efficacy of prayers of the Church against herdsmen invasion and occupation of Benue communities, stressing that with the prayers and the military action soon to commence in the state, the challenge would be overcome.
In his sermon taken from the Book of Lamentations, Regional Evangelist, RCCG, Region 19, Lagos, Pastor Ayoola Adeyanju, who preached on: Great Is Thy Faithfulness, prayed God to destroy the enemies of the state, stressing that those who love God passionately were bound to enjoy His faithfulness.
Meanwhile, a Lagos-based Cleric, Felix Adunpe has stated that the country’s problem was beyond periodic change of government, adding that Nigeria needed to be severed from the spiritual influences of the Festival of Arts and Culture (FESTAC).
