
The Police in Minna Niger state said it
has seized about N8 million fake notes from two suspects, 70-year-old
Abdulkharim Adamu and 50-year-old Umar Auta. Adamu and Auta were
arrested at the old abattoir area in Suleja town last weekend.
State Police Command Public Relations
Officer, ASP Mohammed Abubakar who disclosed this to newsmen in Minna on
Saturday said a Dane gun, machete, and axe were recovered from the
residence of the suspects.
ASP Abubakar said the suspects were
trailed to their house by detectives where the fake N8 million currency
notes were discovered, adding that further investigation showed that the
duo had been in the business for a long time.
The police spokesman said the suspects
had confessed to committing the offence and regretted their action,
stressing that they would be charged to court soon.
Abubakar warned, “There is no hiding
place for evil ones in this state, we must continue to fish them out to
face the wrath of the law. We do our best to make Niger crime free.”
He however appealed to the public to
continue to give information to the command, which would assist it to
bring down crime rate in the state.
