U.S president Trump threatens Venezuela with 'military option'; Venezuela calls it crazy

US President Donald Trump says he is considering a number of options against Venezuela including a military operation.

But the Pentagon said after Trump made his comments that it has received no orders on Venezuela from the White House. Trump has also branded Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro a dictator and has slapped sanctions on the country. It came after Maduro won a vote to form a legislative body to re-draft Venezuela’s constitution. The Venezuelan president has slammed Washington’s sanctions as imperialist aggression. He, however, invited his US counterpart to engage in dialogue with him, saying he had directed officials to set up a meeting with Donald Trump.
