Thailand’s top court issues an arrest warrant for former Prime Minster, Yingluck Shinawat, after she failed to show up at a trial hearing.
Thailand's military Junta says it is possible that Yingluck left the country and that authorities are searching for her. The ex-premier's lawyer says he does not know whether Yingluck is still in Thailand, as officials tighten border security to prevent her exit.
The Supreme Court has set a new date in late September for the verdict in a negligence case, in which Yingluck has pleaded not guilty.
She had told the court that she could not attend Friday's hearing because of illness.
However, a court statement has rejected the explanation.
Hundreds of the ex-premier’s supporters rallied outside the court amid tight security.
