The United States has slapped new sanctions on Iranian companies over the country's launch of a satellite-carrying rocket.
The sanctions target six Iranian subsidiaries of the Shahid Hemmat Industrial Group. the US Treasury says the group is key to Iran's ballistic missile program. According to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, the US will continue its efforts to rein in Iran's ballistic missile program. On Thursday, the US said Iran’s launch of its satellite-carrying rocket was in violation of the UN Security Council resolutions.
