At least nine people have lost their lives in the US after being crammed alongside scores of others into an extremely hot large truck in an apparent immigrant-smuggling attempt.
The truck was found parked outside a store in the city of San Antonio in the US state of Texas. Dozens of other people rescued from the vehicle are hospitalized and are in serious condition many with extreme dehydration and heatstroke. Police officials described the incident as a trafficking attempt which had gone wrong. They also called it a horrific tragedy. Some of the survivors told the authorities they were from Mexico.
