Virginia police charge man with killing Muslim girl

Police authorities in the U-S state of Virginia say they have charged a man with the murder of a Muslim girl who went missing Sunday.

The body of the 17-year-old Muslim girl with signs of beating was found in a pond in Sterling area, outside Washington. The girl went missing after leaving a Muslim Society mosque. Her friends, who later reported about the victim’s missing, said she engaged in a discussion with a young man. Police later identified him as 22-year-old Darwin Martinez Torres. Police haven't ruled out hate crime as a motivation for the incident. According to the Council on American-Islamic Relations advocacy group, the number of attacks against America Muslims reached over 22-hundred cases in 20-16. That’s a 57-percent rise in comparison with 20-15.
