US approves sale of $750mn worth of military training & support to S Arabia
The U-S State Department has approved the potential sale of 750-million
dollars worth of military training and support to Saudi Arabia.
According
to the Pentagon, the sale is for continued blanket order training
program for the Saudi Air Force and the kingdom’s other military units.
The U-S defense department delivered the required certification
notifying Congress of the possible sale on June 2. Last month, President
Donald Trump himself signed a 110-billion-dollar arms deal with Saudi
Arabia during his maiden trip to the kingdom. The deal was part of a
300-billion-dollar package to boost Saudi military capabilities in ten
years. Riyadh, which is arming and financing terrorist groups in Syria,
has imported tens of billions of dollars worth of weapons from the U-S
over the past years. Saudi Arabia also launched a deadly war on Yemen in
2015.
