Trump healthcare plan sparks protests in Washington

US President Donald Trump has vowed to finish off what he called the Obamacare catastrophe. He was speaking at a victory ceremony after the House of Representatives narrowly passed a bill to repeal and replace Obama's Affordable Care Act.

The American Health Care Act was passed after weeks of debate within the Republican Party and mounting pressure from the White House. The approval has handed Trump his first big legislative victory, but sets up a tough fight in the Senate. Lawmakers voted 217 to 213, with no Democrats voting in favor. Democratic leader of the House Nancy Pelosi called the healthcare bill a cowardly choice. Meanwhile, demonstrators and several prominent Democrats chanted against Trump’s healthcare plan outside Congress while Republicans in the House were defending the bill.
