Pentagon finally admits US jets bombed mosque, killing civilian

US defense officials have finally admitted to a March airstrike that targeted a mosque in northern Syria causing civilian casualties.

A US Central Command investigation has found that the airstrike DID target a building that was part of a mosque complex, killing nearly fifty worshipers and injuring many others. The admission comes as the Pentagon adamantly rejected the notion that a mosque was hit and that there were civilian casualties. The Pentagon insisted that the strike hit a building near the mosque where al-Qaeda members were holding a meeting. The air raid drew strong condemnation from prominent human rights organizations, including Human Right Watch.
