Largest mosque in Sweden hit by arson attack

In Sweden, police are investigating an overnight fire that hit a mosque near the capital Stockholm as suspected arson.

A police spokesman says the Imam Ali Islamic Centre in the northern Stockholm suburb of Jakobsberg has apparently been lit from outside. No one has been injured in the incident. Several mosques in Sweden have been the target of arson attacks in recent years. The attacks have been described as xenophobic. Such incidents have been on the rise since refugees from war-torn countries like Syria and Iraq arrived in Sweden in large numbers.
