Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has accused the United States of being behind anti-government protests that have claimed the lives of several people in the course of a fortnight.
Maduro made the comment while addressing a pro-government rally held in response to the opposition’s marches. On Wednesday alone, three people including a Venezuelan national guard were killed during clashes. The opposition has even called for continued protests. The fury came after the government banned main opposition leader Henrique Capriles from running for president for fifteen years. Venezuela has suffered severe political wrangling in the past year. The chaos is mainly blamed on economic problems that the opposition says the government is not capable of resolving.
