Venezuela opposition blames govt. for economic problems

Venezuela's opposition has vowed no letup in its bid to remove President Nicolas Maduro from power amid the ongoing unrest in the Latin American nation. Maduro's center-right rivals say they will go ahead with new street protests. They are urging all-out street rallies to push for elections. The protests are fueled by a crippling economic crisis in the oil-exporting nation. The opposition blames the government for shortages of food, medicine and other essentials. Maduro, however, says the crisis stems from what he calls a US-backed capitalist conspiracy. Meanwhile, Venezuela's chief state prosecutor says 26 people have been killed since anti-government protests began a month ago.
