Supporters of South Korea’s detained former president take to the streets of the capital Seoul, demanding her immediate release.
The protesters held up Korean flags as wells as posters of the ousted president. They condemned Park Guen-hye’s impeachment and the subsequent ruling that stripped her of presidency. Park was jailed following months of legal challenges on Friday. She was convicted over allegations of colluding with a close friend to receive bribes and extort money from big businesses. The embattled former president could even be sentenced to life in prison.
