Syrian army regains control of new towns

The Syrian army has regained control of two towns after the evacuation of foreign-backed militants from the suburbs of the capital Damascus.
The towns of Madaya and Buqein had been under the control of militants for more than two years. The second phase of the evacuation came as part of an agreement between the government and the armed men. But it was put on hold at the weekend after a bomb blast targeting civilian evacuees killed scores in Aleppo province. Hundreds of militants have so far been bussed out under the deal. In return, civilians who were besieged by militants in the two towns of Fouaa and Kafraya were evacuated to regions controlled by the Syrian army.
