Syria slams French remarks on deadly incident

Syria has condemned the French government over its allegation that Damascus was behind the recent suspected chemical attack in Idlib province. The Syrian foreign ministry, in a statement, described the accusation as a lie and fabrication. It added that France has no legal authority to determine what happened in Khan Sheikhun. According to the statement, remarks by French foreign minister Jean-Marc Ayrault show France's involvement in masterminding the crime. On Tuesday, Ayrault claimed an analysis of samples shows that Syria was responsible for the deadly sarin gas attack in Idlib. Syria has blamed militants for the chemical attack that killed dozens of Syrians earlier this month.
