Iraq’s Prime Minister has paid a visit to Western Mosul where he highlighted the importance of speeding up the battle to liberate the city from Daesh Takfiri terrorists.
Abadi made the comments following a meeting with senior military commanders overseeing the fight against Daesh. The Iraqi prime minister also visited a number of liberated districts. On February 19, Abadi announced the beginning of the offensive to recapture Western Mosul from the terror group. Government forces have already recaptured the city’s eastern half from Daesh. The federal police are now engaged in fierce house to house battles with the Takfiri terrorists in western Mosul’s old city. The paramilitary forces say they have pushed Daesh out of 30 percent of the densely populated area.
