Investigators in Moscow have confirmed that a Kyrgyz-born Russian national was behind Monday’s bombing of a Saint Petersburg metro station. The assailant has been identified as Akbarjon Djalilov. Officials say the suspect also planned a second bomb that has been defused. Investigators noted that his genetic trace was found on the bag. Russian police had earlier released Djalilov’s photo to the media. The attack has left 14 people dead and nearly 50 others wounded. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov says the incident highlights the need for joint efforts to fight terrorism.
