Anti-government demonstration turns violent in Venezuela

In Venezuela, angry demonstrators have clashed with police in the capital Caracas.
The protesters rallied to denounce what they called President Nicolas Maduro’s recent attempt to expand his powers. They were carrying anti-government signs which read “Socialism of Hunger” and “We Will Rescue Freedom”. The development comes after the Supreme Court passed a bill to strip the National Assembly of its legislative powers. The ruling was later reversed under domestic and international pressure. The President of the National Assembly, Julio Borges was present at the rally and spoke among the protesters.
