The Turkish military has vowed to advance further into northern Syria after the end of the Euphrates Shield operation in the Arab country.
According to the Turkish army, the move is meant to protect Turkey’s national security and prevent any unwanted formation. It added that the efforts are also meant to pave the way for the return of Syrian refugees. The Turkish prime minister officially announced the end of the Euphrates Shield offensive in northern Syria on Wednesday. He, however, made no mention about the withdrawal of Turkish troops from Syria. Ankara deployed troops and warplanes to Syria last August to support armed groups fighting Daesh terrorists and stop the advance of Kurdish fighters.
