US sanctions 11 firms, individuals for aiding Iran

The US has imposed sanctions on eleven foreign entities and individuals for transferring technology that could boost Iran’s missile program. The State Department says the sanctions are imposed for what it calls transferring sensitive technology to Iran for its missile program. It adds that eleven companies in China, North Korea and the United Arab Emirates have been sanctioned. Iran’s foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif recently said the Islamic Republic’s missile program is purely defensive and meant to protect the nation against foreign threats.
