US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson says efforts over the past 2 decades to restrain North Korea’s weapon programs have failed.
At a joint conference with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, Tillerson called for a reduction of tensions in the Korean Peninsula. He also highlighted the importance of safeguarding stability and security in northeast Asia, and the Asia-pacific region.
Wang for his part called for diplomatic means to peacefully address the North Korean issue. He also said that China was ready to walk on the US side with the spirit of no confrontation, no conflict and mutual respect to address differences.
Tillerson is also scheduled to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Sunday.
