Iran has reacted to a recent Arab League statement, advising the body to stop making baseless claims against the Islamic Republic.
Foreign Ministry’s spokesman Bahram Qassemi said the Arab League shouldn’t mistake friends for enemies. He said it’s saddening that some states are trying to portray Iran as enemy instead of the Zionist regime of Israel. Qassemi reiterated that Iran remains committed to the principle of respect and non-interference in other countries’ affairs especially when it comes to its neighbors. The Iranian official went on to say that Tehran’s right to the three islands in the Persian Gulf is non-negotiable. He condemned false claims of sovereignty over the islands as interference in Iran’s internal affairs.
