
The Syrian army and allied fighters have regained control of a key road in a terrorist-held pocket northeast of the capital Damascus.
A London-based monitoring group said the latest gains could split Eastern Ghouta in two and deal a heavy blow to terrorists near the capital. Meanwhile, clashes erupted overnight between the army and terrorists in the southern city of Dara’a. The government of Syrian president Bashar al-Assad has been battling a wide array of militant groups supported by the US and its regional allies. The army recently liberated large swathes of territory from Daesh terrorists near the Turkish border.
