The Syrian Foreign Ministry has written letters to senior United Nations officials, asking them to condemn the twin bombings in the country’s capital on Saturday.
The letters describe the deadly attacks as cowardly acts of terror which coincide with heavy shelling of residential neighborhoods in Damascus. According to the letters, the shelling has taken civilian lives and severely damaged private and public property, mostly schools and hospitals. Damascus says the bombings are in reaction to the Syrian Army’s recent victories against foreign-backed militants and Daesh terrorists.
