South Korea’s ousted president has arrived at a detention center near Seoul after being arrested over a series of charges.
Park Geun-Hye was arrested after the Seoul Central District Court ruled that she should be held on charges of bribery, abuse of authority, coercion and leaking government secrets. She must be held in a cell for up to 20 days while being investigated on these charges. The South Korean parliament impeached Park in December 20-16 and the Constitutional Court upheld her impeachment earlier this month. The former president is accused of allowing her confidante to extort money from companies in return for political favors. She has denied the allegations.
