Pyongyang warns US drills may turn into war

North Korea has warned that the joint US-South Korea drills may turn into an actual war. The North Korean diplomat stressed that Pyongyang is determined to further bolster its defense capabilities with nuclear deterrece as a pivot. The official was speaking at a UN-sponsored Conference on Disarmament in Geneva. The annual drills were launched on March 1. Both Washington and Seoul claim the war games are held to deter any possible use of nuclear weapons by the North. Pyongyang, however, condemns the drills as provocative rehearsals for invasion. The United States has over 28-thousand troops stationed in South Korea. Earlier on Tuesday, the Pentagon started to deploy the first elements of its THAAD missile system in South Korea.
