Putin hosts Turkish counterpart for talks on Syria

Russian President Vladimir Putin has hailed his country’s cooperation with Turkey over the crisis in Syria. Putin was speaking during a meeting with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the Kremlin. During the meeting, Erdogan also described contacts between Ankara and Moscow as effective. Russia, along with Iran and Turkey, brokered a cease-fire in Syria in December. The three countries also co-sponsored two rounds of talks this year between the Syrian government and the foreign-backed opposition in Kazakhstan.
