Tensions remain high outside the Turkish embassy in Belgium after a day of clashes between pro-and anti-Erdogan Turk expatriates. They’re heading to the embassy for early voting on a constitutional referendum.
Three Kurdish people were injured during the confrontations outside the Turkish diplomatic mission in Brussels on Thursday. They were reportedly stabbed by the supporters of the ruling AK party. Belgium police say they have arrested at least four suspects in relation to Thursday’s violence. A fifth suspect has yet to be detained because he’s in hospital. Turkish expatriates will vote at their embassy until April 9. Turkey is going to hold a referendum on constitutional changes on April 16. If supported by the majority of the Turks, it would pave the way for the country to transfer from parliamentary to presidential system.
