US Vice President Mike Pence says the Trump administration is seriously considering moving the American embassy from Tel Aviv to occupied Jerusalem al-Quds.
Pence made the announcement while addressing the Israeli lobbying group AIPAC. President Donald Trump has been talking about the controversial issue before and after winning the November election. On Thursday, Congress approved Trump’s pick for the country’s ambassador to Israel David Friedman who favors the embassy relocation. Moving the US diplomatic mission in Israel is considered to be a highly contentious issue. Many regard the move as Washington’s de facto contribution to the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories.
