Paris airport assailant identified as Ziyed Ben Belgasem

French authorities have identified the assailant who was shot dead after trying to grab a soldier’s gun at a Paris airport.
Authorities say Ziyed Ben Belgacem is also suspected of having shot a police officer earlier in the day after being pulled over for speed driving. Police say the assailant’s house was among the first searched following the Paris attacks that left 130 people dead in November 20-15. The 39-year-old was shot dead at Orly airport in Paris after trying to grab a soldier’s gun. Flights at Orly Airport are gradually resuming hours after they were halted following the deadly incident. The French president says the attack is under investigation to see if it was a terrorist plot. He urged the nation to remain vigilant, stressing that the attack shows that the move to guard public sites is essential.
