Over 30 killed in Daesh raid on Afghan hospital

The death toll from an attack on Afghanistan’s largest military hospital in the capital Kabul has climbed to over 30. The Afghan Defence Ministry says some 50 people were also injured. The incident happened after gunmen, dressed as doctors, detonated explosives at the hospital gate and then stormed into the building and opened fire on staff and patients. All the attackers were gunned down after several hours of fighting with police. The Daesh terror group has claimed responsibility for the attack. President Ashraf Ghani has condemned the raid, calling it an attack on all Afghan people. Kabul has seen a wave of terrorist attacks on government buildings over the past days. Last week, at least one person was killed and 35 were wounded in attacks on a police precinct in western Kabul.
