Iraqi forces edge closer to symbolic Mosque

Iraqi Federal Police forces battling Daesh terrorists say they have edged closer to the symbolic Noori mosque in western Mosul.
The iraqi forces say they are in full control of Qatheeb al-Ban area and a sports stadium in the western wing of Mosul’s old city. The forces has slowed the pace of its advance in the densely populated areas and narrow alleyways around the mosque to protect civilians. The Noori mosque is where the head of Daesh terrorist group proclaimed his so called caliphate in 20-14. Retaking the landmark will deal a major blow to the Takfiri group. Meanwhile the head of the U-S central command says a probe into a deadly U-S airstrike in western mosul has moved from an assessment to a more formal investigation.
