Iraqi army press ahead with operations against Daesh

The Iraqi army is pressing ahead with operations against Daesh terrorists as it is inching toward an iconic mosque in the western part of Mosul. Iraqi forces have dominated a train station near the Nuri mosque with the help of army helicopters. Military officials say the recapture of the symbolic site is imminent. The Daesh leader proclaimed his caliphate in the iconic mosque in 2014. Six months into an all-out offensive to claw back Iraq’s second largest city, advancing forces have already cleared eastern Mosul. They’re now battling to drive the terrorists out of the western side.
