Iran urges Turkey to stop arms flow to militants

Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has called on Turkey to help halt the flow of arms and money to terrorist organizations.

Zarif described Turkey as a strategic neighbor and said the two countries enjoy amicable relations. He said Ankara should help stem the financial and logistic support for terror groups wreaking havoc in the region. Iran’s foreign minister was speaking with the Lebanese al-Mayadeen television channel. He also touched on the new US government’s stance against Iran, saying Tehran remains unmoved by US sanctions. Zarif said the best option is the implementation of the 2015 nuclear deal with the P5+1 group of countries. He stressed that the previous sanctions imposed during the Obama administration proved ineffective and counterproductive.
