A federal judge in the U-S state of Hawaii has decided to extend his order blocking President Donald Trump's revised travel ban.
District Judge Derrick Watson issued the longer-lasting hold on the ban just hours after hearing arguments. The Trump administration earlier asked Watson to narrow his ruling to cover only that part of Trump's executive order that suspends new visas for people from six Muslim-majority countries. But the judge said the ban violates the constitution. He also questioned the Trump administration's argument that the ban was motivated by national security concerns. Hawaii says the Trump’s policy discriminates against Muslims and hurts the state's tourist-dependent economy. Trump’s controversial travel order caused chaos and confusion at airports and sparked protests in the U-S and beyond.
