The death toll from torrential rainstorms in Peru has reached 75, as flooding continues to wreak havoc in the Andean country. Overflowing rivers, caused by weeks of rain fall, have left many homes, structures, and roads damaged. Residents have been isolated as a result of the flooding. The government has deployed the military to help police control public order in the 811 cities that have declared an emergency. The storms are thought to have been caused by a warming of the surface waters in the Pacific Ocean. Meteorologists expect the heavy rain to continue for another two weeks.
