FBI to probe collusion between Trump, Russia

The FBI says it’s investigating possible collusion between the US President and Russia to help Donald Trump win last year’s presidential election.

Addressing a hearing of the US House Intelligence committee, FBI director James Comey added that there is no information to support Trump’s claim that he was wiretapped upon orders from former president Barack Obama. He also said that because of the nature of the investigation, details cannot be disclosed for the time being.

Trump, who has repeatedly dismissed alleged links to Russia, described the reports as fake news. Comey’s testimony, alongside US National Security Agency Director Mike Rogers, comes amid calls from Democrats for a thorough investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 US presidential election as well as Moscow’s links to the Trump campaign.
