"Dutch PM's party wins most seats in elections"

The exit polls from the Netherlands parliamentary elections show incumbent Prime Minister Mark Rutte’s VVD party will win most of the seats.
According to the polls, the VVD has taken 31 of 150 seats while far-right politician Geert Wilders’ party has shared the second place with two other parties, each with 19 seats. In his victory speech, Mark Rutte said anti-Islam Wilders’ defeat stopped quote-the wrong sort of populism in its tracks. The Netherlands' main exit polls also suggest that Wilders had an unexpectedly poor showing in the elections. There were 28 parties on the Dutch ballot. The vote is crucial to Europe ahead of elections in France and Germany, which have seen a rise in populist, anti-immigrant sentiments in recent months.
