Pressure is mounting on US Attorney General Jeff sessions to step down for his lying about interactions with Russian officials.
Schumer also called for the appointment of a special prosecutor to lead the investigation into Russia’s alleged involvement in the 2016 presidential campaign. Meanwhile, US House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi demanded Sessions resign and a special prosecutor be appointed to investigate the matter. US media reports say Sessions failed, during his confirmation hearing, to disclose two meetings with Russian Ambassador to Washington Sergey Kislyak. Republicans are asking Sessions to excuse himself from the Justice Department probes into his alleged ties with Moscow.
