
The foreign ministry spokesman reaffirmed China’s discontent over the move. Geng Shuang urged South Korea and the United States to rethink their plan saying Beijing is determined to protect its national security. The spokesman also hinted about South Korea’s Lotte Company that has approved a land swap with Seoul that will enable authorities to deploy Thaad. He expressed China’s reception of foreign investors pending compliance with the country’s laws and regulations. The comments follow Chinese media call for public boycott of Lotte. The company’s move also sparked a protest rally outside South Korea’s ministry of defense in the capital Seoul.
