Academics at a British university have slammed a disciplinary action against two students for supporting an anti-Israel campaign called the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement.
44 academics from the University of Manchester said in a letter that the university should QUOTE-"applaud" the students' activism instead of punishing them. The academics also criticized the university's ties to Caterpillar Corporation. The American company produces bulldozers used by the Israeli army to destroy homes belonging to Palestinians in the occupied territories. Earlier in March, the students unfurled a banner that read "Stop Arming Israel". The students have also accused the university of censoring pro-Palestinian activism.
