33 killed in US airstrike on Syrian school

A monitoring group says a US-led airstrike on a school in Syria has left at least 33 civilians dead. According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the school houses displaced families from Raqqah, Aleppo and Homs. The Observatory also said only two people have been pulled from the rubble alive, indicating that the death toll could rise. The attack near Raqqah province’s Mansurah area took place early on Tuesday. Another activist group has said there were 50 families inside the school when the attack happened. It described the airstrike as the silent slaughter of civilians in Raqqah. Hundreds of civilians have been killed in the US-led airstrikes on Syria since 2014. The coalition says it is fighting Daesh terrorists.
