US widening crackdown on illegal immigrants

The administration of President Donald Trump is widening a crackdown on millions of undocumented immigrants living in the US.
The fresh directives also pave the way for the deportation of any illegal immigrant charged with or even suspected of a crime. That could include people arrested for minor traffic offenses. Secretary of Homeland Security John Kelly has defended the new policies. He says the surge of immigration near the country’s southern border with Mexico has created significant national security vulnerability. Since Trump took power in January, immigration enforcement officers have carried out large-scale raids arresting several hundred people.
