US suggests it could reduce financial support for NATO

NATO Secretary-General has called on the member states to honor their military spending pledges after the US suggested it could reduce its support for the military alliance.
Stoltenberg added that the United States supports a strong NATO. US Defense Secretary Jim Mattis had earlier warned that NATO members should deliver on their financial commitments to the alliance to make sure the United States does not moderate its support. Washington already puts up seventy-percent of NATO’s funds. US President Donald Trump has repeatedly asked the alliance members to increase defense spending to two percent of their economic output.
