The United Nations humanitarian coordinator for the Palestinian territories, Robert Piper, has visited a village where 140 structures, including a primary school are at risk of demolition. The UN says Israeli officials have over the past week issued dozens of demolition orders threatening nearly every structure in a part of the Bedouin village of Khan al-Ahmar. Piper says the plan is unacceptable and must stop. Rights groups fear the demolitions could eventually clear the way for further Israeli settlement construction. Emboldened by U-S President Donald Trump’s pro-Israeli rhetoric, Tel Aviv has announced five-thousand new permits for settler units in the occupied Palestinian territories.
