According to the Syrian media, the government is ready for exchange of prisoners in the framework of efforts being made for the upcoming peace meeting in Kazakhstan. There was no immediate reaction from opposition groups. Earlier this month the Syrian government and militants swapped dozens of prisoners in Hama province. The Syrian officials and opposition groups are to meet in Astana on February 15 and 16. Separately the UN sponsored peace talks are due to start in Switzerland on February 20.
