In a statement addressing the Constitutional Court, Park said she never made illegal demands on top South Korean firms. She also denied receiving any improper requests from Samsung Group. The statement was disclosed on the final day of arguments in the Constitutional Court, which will issue a verdict on whether to uphold Park’s impeachment. Park is accused of conspiring with her close confidante Choi Soon-sil to pressure big businesses to donate money to two foundations which has close ties to the president. The Parliament suspended Park on the corruption scandal last December.
