Army General John Nicholson told the Senate Armed Services Committee
that he was concerned about the level of losses by Afghan forces. After
the hearing, Committee Chairman Senator John McCain said he would back
Nicholson's request. He slammed former president Barack Obama for
refusing to send more troops to Afghanistan. There are currently about
84-hundred U-S military personnel in Afghanistan as part of a NATO
mission there. However, the U-S-led forces have been criticized for
their ineffectiveness in restoring security in the country. Last July,
the U-S government's top watchdog on Afghanistan said Taliban had
expanded its territory since 2001 when the U-S started the war on the
country.
